Google Calendar app makes it way easier to scroll through months

An update to Google Calendar on Android is rolling out, which makes it significantly easier to scroll through months.

The Google Calendar app already makes it fairly easy to keep track of events, but looking forward or backward on the calendar can quickly get a bit tedious as moving between months requires swipes. That’s not so bad if you’re just moving a month or two, but it can get real annoying if you’re trying to move ahead a few months or even a year.

In Google Calendar v13.1 (presumably as part of a server-side tweak seeing as the update has been out for a couple of weeks now), Google is making this much easier with chips for each month at the bottom of the monthly overview.

This appears on a drop-down underneath the overview of the current month. You’ll be able to (depending on your screen size) see around 4-5 months forward, and the bar scrolls left or right to quickly select a month in the future or the past.

The new method is much faster than the traditional swipes.

We’re seeing this live on a Pixel 8 Pro running Google Calendar v2024.13.1-624115131, and it was spotted in the same version by Manuel Vonau on Twitter/X. The same tweak is not yet available on Calendar’s tablet design, nor on the iOS app.

While this change is very likely server-side, you can check the Play Store for updates.

Are you seeing these new month chips?
