HC dismisses plea challenging the re-advertisement of 4476 PGT posts advertised by HPSC

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana high court has dismissed the petition that had challenged the recently advertised 4476 posts of Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) advertised by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC).
The petitioner in this case had questioned the two-tier written examination criteria notified by the HPSC in its re-advertisement issued last month.
Single bench headed by Justice Tribhuvan Singh Dahiya of the HC has passed these orders while dismissing the petition filed by Ashwani Kumar and others.
The petitioners had mainly challenged the June 24 advertisement issued by the HPSC through which the commission had re-advertised 4476 posts of PGTs in different subjects for the state’s secondary education department.
The HPSC had re-advertised these posts afresh after withdrawing the previous advertisement issued on November 19, 2022, after the criteria notified by the HPSC for these posts was challenged in the Punjab and Haryana high court in a bunch of petitions.
The previous petition had mainly challenged the criteria for conducting the written examination on the grounds that the commission had first announced the written examination with multiple choice questions but subsequently announced to hold preliminary and main examination with subjective type questions.
After the HC had stayed the entire recruitment process on the basis of the criteria, the advocate general (AG) Haryana had given a statement on May 29 before the court regarding the withdrawal of the November 2022 advertisement.
Thereafter the HPSC had re-advertised these posts on June 24 on the same set of criteria notifying two-tier written examination for these posts.
However, the same was again challenged before the HC on Monday. The petitioners had sought directions to quash the impugned criteria vide which the HPSC has re-advertised the posts.
The petition, however, has now been dismissed by the HC upholding the criteria advertised by the HPSC.
The detailed copy of the order, however, has not been uploaded till the filing of the current report.

Posts advertised since 2019

Importantly, the youngsters in the state of Haryana have been waiting for these posts for the past around four years, as these posts were initially advertised on August 26, 2019 by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC). However, as these posts came under Group-B category posts, the advertisements were withdrawn and sent to the HPSC for completing the recruitment process. Thereafter the November 2022 advertisement issued by the HPSC for these posts was also withdrawn on account of legal hurdles. Now these posts were re-advertised for the third time.
