How to watch Abrams' special 'Crisis on the Border' on NewsNation

(NewsNation) — NewsNation correspondents will delve into issues on the southern border, including through ride-alongs with officials patrolling it, on a special edition of “Dan Abrams Live” on Thursday evening.

“Crisis on the Border” will air at 9 p.m. ET. You can find your channel at joinnn.com.

Immigration has been a divisive political issue. Voters whom NewsNation spoke to along the 2024 presidential election’s campaign trail have said it has been a top concern for them.

Republicans have long been criticizing U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration for not doing more to stop unlawful entries at the U.S.-Mexico border.

House GOP members even impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in February, claiming he “willfully and systematically” refused to enforce immigration laws.

Charges against Mayorkas were ultimately dismissed by the Senate, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, saying House Republicans’ charges failed to meet “the high standard of high crimes and misdemeanors” and could set a dangerous precedent.

A group of House Democrats, though, recently wrote a letter to Biden, asking him to use all the tools at his disposal, including executive action, to address border security.

The White House, meanwhile, has said it’s Congress’ responsibility to act, especially after the collapse of a border deal supported by GOP and Democratic lawmakers earlier this year.

“Congressional Republicans chose to put partisan politics ahead of our national security, and rejected what border agents have said they need,” a White House spokesperson said in a statement to NewsNation. “We continue to call on Speaker Johnson and House Republicans to pass the bipartisan deal to secure the border.”
