IIPE convocation on August 5, renowned physicist Archana to be the chief guest

VISAKHAPATNAM: Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy will conduct its third convocation on August 5, Saturday. Renowned physicist and Indian National Science Academy honorary scientist at the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism Prof Archana Bhattacharyya will attend the programme as the chief guest and deliver the convocation address.

Speaking to the media here in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, IIPE director Prof Shalivahan said that in the present convocation, 102 BTech students (56 students from petroleum engineering and 46 students from chemical engineering) will be conferred with the degrees. “Two students from each branch will receive the gold and silver medals for their academic excellence. One student will receive the president’s gold medal, for overall performance based on the academic CGPA and extracurricular activities. The institute has extended the invitation to directors and vice-chancellors of universities in and around Visakhapatnam, former Board of Governors (BoG) members, and senators. The CMDs of oil PSUs and other prominent personalities from the oil and gas sector are expected to attend the event,” said Prof Shalivahan.
Prof Shalivahan explained the progress that the institute has made since inception and how it is progressing on academics, research, industry collaboration, placements of students, industry-oriented programmes, etc.

Dean (R&D) Prof K Vijaya Kumar, associate dean (academic affairs) Prof. Deepak Amban Mishra, Registrar Ram Phal Dwivedi, and others were present in the press meet.
