IP University Expansion: Adding 1,100 Seats Across Campus Schools |

NEW DELHI: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IP University) is considering a significant expansion, aiming to add approximately 1,100 seats across various campus schools and centres. The decision comes in response to the growing demand for seats in these institutions. Currently, there are about 3,300 seats available in different programs, and the university plans to increase this number to around 4,400 seats.
Vice Chancellor Padmashri Prof.(Dr.) Mahesh Verma emphasized the need for this expansion, highlighting that the seats in campus schools and centres have not seen an increase in the last decade, unlike affiliated institutes.
In the University School of Information & Communication Technology, plans include doubling the seats for B. Tech programs, such as Computer Sciences, IT, and ECE. Additionally, two new programs, B. Tech (CSE) Artificial Intelligence and B. Tech (CSE) Data Science, are in the pipeline.
University School of Chemical Technology is also set for an increase, with plans for additional seats in B. Tech (Chemical Technology) and the introduction of B. Tech (Bio-Technology), MSc (Environment Management), and four-year BSc (Environment Management) programmes.
The University aims to introduce dual-degree courses in BSc-MSc for Physics, Chemistry, and Math in the University School of Basic & Applied Sciences. Furthermore, four-year integrated courses for BEd in general, sciences, and commerce are planned.
University School of Law & Legal Studies is set to witness an expansion in the five-year integrated law course, along with the introduction of BBA, B. Com (H), and additional seats for MBA (Analytics) in the University School of Management School.
New programs are on the horizon, including M. Tech (Food Technology) and BS (Mass Media) with various seat allocations, as well as D. Pharma, B. Pharma, M. Pharma, and Bachelor of Physiotherapy in the Centre for Excellence in Pharmaceutical Science.
