Is BT Mail down? Issues, outages, and errors explained

BT Mail customers are unable to log into their accounts today following a mysterious outage.

Almost a thousand reports were picked up by the Downdetector website around 9am on Friday.

It’s not clear whether the issue is widespread or isolated as yet.

And BT is yet to reveal the cause.

Customers have flooded social media trying to find out what’s going on.

“Can’t log in and neither can many other people. Need it for work today,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Is BT email down?

Judging by Down Detector, it looks like BT’s email system is down at the moment.

According to screenshots shared by affected users, a popup message appears saying: “We are experiencing issues with this service, please try again later.”

Lots of people have been tweeting BT via its @bt_uk account for answers.

“@bt_uk please address this asap – lots of people are filing online issues with their #BTemails not being accessible this morning – please put out a statement if there are known issues?” one wrote.

“What’s going on? Another feature of the new ‘upgrade’ to email?,” another said.

BT hasn’t revealed the cause but has responded to customers, saying: “We’re aware of an issue impacting BT Webmail and we’re working to fix this.”

One of the immediate ways to tell if BT mail is down for everyone – and not just you – is by checking social media like X, formerly known as Twitter.
