Eligibility

JEE (Main) Performance: Only the top 250,000 scorers (including all categories) in the B.E./B.Tech.paper of JEE (Main) 2024 are eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2024.
Age Limit: The minimum age limit for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2024 is 18 years. There’s a relaxation of 5 years for SC, ST and PwD candidates (minimum age 13 years).
Attempt Limit: Candidates can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
Class XII Exam: You must have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) exam for the first time in either 2023 or 2024, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
Previous Admission in IITs: You cannot appear for JEE (Advanced) 2024 if you were previously admitted to an IIT through JoSAA 2023, regardless of whether you continued your studies or reported online/at a reporting center. This also applies to candidates whose admission was cancelled after joining an IIT.

Exam Pattern

  • Two Papers (3 Hours Each): JEE (Advanced) 2024 consists of two mandatory papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2), each lasting three hours.

  • Computer-Based Test (CBT) Only: The exam will be conducted solely in the CBT mode.

  • Sections and Subjects: Each paper will have three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

  • Question Types: Questions are designed to assess your comprehension, reasoning, and analytical skills.

  • Instructions: Carefully read and follow the detailed instructions provided in the question papers during the exam.

  • Multilingual Support: Papers will be available in both English and Hindi. You can choose your preferred language and switch between them during the exam. However, the English version takes precedence in case of any discrepancies.

  • Question Dropped: If a question needs to be dropped due to errors, full marks will be awarded for that question to all candidates.

Marking scheme
