Kaizer Chiefs star new deal?

Kaizer Chiefs have so many contract deals to deal with. What will be the outcome on Edmilson Dove?

KAIZER CHIEFS STAR EDMILSON DOVE TO SIGN NEW DEAL?

The 29-year-old central defender/left-back Dove has played 42 matches and scored two goals since joining Amakhosi. 2024 was his eighth season in the DStv Premiership. He played six seasons with Cape Town City and will complete his eighth with Kaizer Chiefs this month.

The left-footer from Gaza, Mozambique, signed a two-year deal with Kaizer Chiefs in 2022. The deal expires on 30 June, and Amakhosi have the option to exercise a two-year renewal.

“People don’t know this, but Dove has a two-year option on his Chiefs contract and an agreement is already in place for the two parties to sign and it’s a matter of time before [Kaizer] Chiefs announce that Dove is staying,” a source confirmed via the Citizen.

“Dove is a leader and the club needs his leadership in order to reclaim the glory days next season. He is also happy to stay at Chiefs, so like I said, it’s a matter of time before he signs the new contract,” the source concluded.

CAVIN JOHNSON ON TOP 8 DREAM

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has revealed the target in the remaining final four matches. Amakhosi will take on TS Galaxy, AmaZulu, Polokwane City and Cape Town Spurs.

“It is a catch-22 situation now. We need to win all of those games and we need to build in order to show what we can have or can’t have. Under my watch so far, most of the players have played,” Johnson said, as quoted by Hollywoodbets, right after Kaizer Chiefs lost 5-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns.

“We can see that the building is there, we just have to put them together and make sure that whoever we play on that particular day, goes out and gets the three points so we can be where we want to be at the end of the season.

“There are four games left, we have to go back to the drawing board and we really have to pull up our socks because the [Kaizer] Chiefs that you saw in the last 15 minutes are not the Chiefs that I know.

“We are disappointed but we have to go back and fix it. We have to come out and we have to end up in the top eight because that is what we have to chase for now.

“We, not only the players but all of us, have to regroup and make sure that we are positive and in the next game, we need to get the best results that we can.

“The most important thing is the Chiefs brand and the people who work for the institution. There is a lot of good that is done behind the scenes, so there will be something that is improved and makes this brand better than it was before,” the Kaizer Chiefs tactician concluded.
