Kuwaiti Special Olympics badminton team heads to Abu Dhabi for Gulf competition

KUWAIT CITY, May 9: The Kuwaiti Special Olympics Badminton Team delegation embarked on their journey to Abu Dhabi to partake in the Gulf Special Olympics Badminton Competition, hosted by the UAE Special Olympics in collaboration with the Special Olympics Regional Presidency for the Middle East and North Africa. The event is scheduled to take place from May 9th to May 13th.

Leading the Kuwaiti delegation is Hana Al-Zawawi, the head of Special Olympics Kuwait. Accompanying her are players Mohammed Walid Bourbaa and Fawzan Al-Qassar, who will compete in both singles and doubles events, along with Sheikha Al-Hindi participating in singles competitions. The delegation also includes Rawan Al-Foudari as the coach, and administrators Hazem Al-Tarkait and Mustafa Hassouna.

Hanaa Al-Zawawi expressed that this participation aligns with the sports program of Special Olympics Kuwait, aimed at providing their players with opportunities to engage, compete, and enhance their skills across various sports disciplines. She highlighted the thorough preparation of the badminton players for the competition, aiming to continue Kuwait’s success in the sport, as evidenced by their gold medal win in badminton at the previous World Games held in Berlin last summer.
