Chris “Mad Dog” Russo went off on a Knicks fan who called into his show and revealed he watch a recent playoff game from his phone while he was out golfing.
On Monday’s episode of Mad Dog Unleashed, a man identified as Mike from Philadelphia called to talk about Knicks fans taking over Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center in Game 4 of the their playoff series against the 76ers. Mike argued that it wasn’t the fault of Sixers fans and that Knicks fan from New Jersey — specifically Centra Jersey — were able to traveling easily. Russo dismissed the theory.
Then, Mike claimed that he went golfing on Sunday. While golfing, he claimed he was told by multiple people that their relatives in Central Jersey went to the previous game.
Russo was stunned to hear that Mike was golfing during Game 4, which began around 1 p.m.
“Let me get this straight,” Russo said. “You’re a huge New York sports fan, and the Knicks are playing at 1 o’clock, and you’re not watching the game?”
That’s when Mike insisted he did watch the game — on his phone.
“Doggy, cell phone, hold it, walk down the course,” Mike responded.
Somehow, Russo was even more floored.
“Oh, nonsense!” he said. “Goodbye! Goodbye!
“‘I’m a huge Knick fan. I’m a New York fan,’ and you’re going to the golf course. First off, the golf course shouldn’t let you have the cell phone. That’s no. 1. Number 2, I didn’t play golf yesterday afternoon. I did not play tennis. Don’t give me this nonsense that you’re some big New-York-in-Philadelphia sports fan, and at 1 o’clock on a Sunday afternoon when they’re playing what you consider a ‘huge’ playoff game, and you’re out there hitting your third shot on six! That ain’t working here!”
