NEET UG 2024 exam tomorrow: Check exam day guidelines, bio-break rules and more

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is all set to conduct the NEET UG 2024 exam tomorrow, May 5. This year, more than 24 lakh candidates will appear for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) 2024 at different centers located in 557 cities throughout the country and 14 cities outside India. The exam will take place from 02:00 PM to 05:20 PM.
With hearts filled with determination and minds sharpened by months of rigorous preparation, tomorrow marks the culmination of medical aspirants’ efforts. However, beyond the realm of academic readiness lies the importance of adhering to the prescribed exam day guidelines for NEET UG 2024, ensuring a smooth and fair assessment process. NEET UG 2024: Exam day guidelines

NEET 2024 Reportng Time
The candidate must reach the NEET exam centre at the time indicated against reporting/entry time at the centre in the admit card. No candidate shall be permitted to enter the examination centre after the gate closing time. Reaching on time will also help in completing all pre-examination formalities efficiently. This will facilitate a seamless and orderly conduct of the examination.

What is allowed to carry inside exam centre?

  • Personal transparent water bottle
  • Additional photograph same as uploaded on Application Form, to be pasted on Attendance Sheet
  • Admit Card along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) having Postcard size photograph affixed on the designated space (page downloaded from the NTA website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in.
  • Before reaching the Centre, the candidates must enter the required details in the Undertaking in legible handwriting.
  • PwD Certificate and Scribe-related documents, if applicable

Bio-break rules for candidates

No bio-breaks will be allowed during first one hour after beginning of the exam and last half an hour of the exam. Apart from the biometric attendance and frisking at entry, candidates will be frisked and biometric attendance will be taken again on entry from bio-break/toilets break.

For Males

  • Choose shirts or T-shirts with short sleeves.
  • Clothing should be devoid of pockets, zippers, or elaborate buttons.
  • Opt for straightforward pants and shirts.
  • Avoid wearing Kurtas and pyjamas.
  • Keep attire uncomplicated without layering.
  • Select light slippers or sandals.
  • Footwear should be simple; boots, shoes, or covered footwear are not allowed.

For Females

  • Simplicity is key; steer clear of embroidery, frills, or layered outfits.
  • Wear half-sleeved Kurtis or shirts.
  • Long or ornate sleeve designs are prohibited.
  • Refrain from wearing any jewelry, whether metallic or non-metallic.
  • Choose slippers or open sandals.
  • Fancy footwear like boots, heels, or stilettos are not permitted in the exam hall.

Consequences of malpractice

Candidates are advised not to indulge in use of unfair means, impersonation etc. Candidates found using unfair means are liable for strict action including debarment from appearing in all the examinations conducted by the agency.
The NTA has cautioned students that under zero-tolerance policy towards malpractices, it has implemented various practices such as multistage biometric authentication for both candidates and invigilation staff.
TNN has quoted Subodh Kumar Singh, director general, NTA, saying, “In light of recent events and to preserve the sanctity of the examination process, the NTA urges all candidates to strictly refrain from engaging in any form of unfair means or practices. The agency has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards malpractices and has introduced a series of robust measures to prevent any attempts to compromise the examination.”

► NTA uses AI based real time analytical tools & technologies to map likely/potential use of unfair means /cheating behaviour by candidates at all centres, both during and post exams.
► CCTV recordings are analyzed using AI technologies to confirm malpractice with evidence.
► NTA catches the likely cheaters through Artificial Intelligence-based tools.
► Suspicious candidates are identified through AI-based tools, even after the examination.
► Examination centers are continuously monitored through artificial intelligence-enabled systems to ensure the integrity of the examination process.
