NYPD cop Jennifer Melendez arrested for drunk driving with BAC 3 times legal limit: prosecutors

A sloshed off-duty NYPD cop was arrested Tuesday for drunk driving, with responding officers finding her surrounded by a bunch of booze and a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit, officials said.

Police noticed NYPD housing cop Jennifer Melendez, 36, sitting in the passenger seat of her car with the vehicle’s front tires on the sidewalk, the engine running and headlights on at 8:46 p.m. in East Harlem, according to a criminal complaint.

“I pulled over,” the slurring, boozed-up cop allegedly told an officer.

Melendez’s blood-alcohol level was a staggering .248 when officers spotted her in the vehicle on Second Ave. and East 120th St., according to prosecutors.

An open half-empty bottle of tequila was sitting near her on the floor and a downed can of beer and vodka bottle were also found in the back seat, court papers state.

Melendez was assigned to nearby Police Service Area 6, which covers housing in Harlem, according to public records.

She was arraigned Wednesday in Manhattan Criminal Court and pleaded not guilty to drunk driving and aggravated driving while intoxicated charges.

Melendez has since been suspended without pay, the NYPD said.

Her next court date is set for June 5.
