& Other Stories to launch Susan Fang collab

H&M Group’s & Other Stories chain this month launches a collab with Susan Fang, the designer known for her nature-inspired creations and innovative techniques.

& Other Stories x Susan Fang

The collection makes the most of these and includes organza dresses and 3D-flower accessories, with the retailer saying it’s “a testament to the power of imagination – and having your mother as a muse”.

Fang’s seven-year-old label weaves together interesting textiles, vibrant colours, and distinctive silhouettes, with the resulting garments and accessories reflecting her cultural influences (she was born in China and raised in multiple countries) and connection to nature.

The pieces feature distinctive signatures: laser-cut flower petals, unique prints, crochet pieces, and broderie anglaise. The offer also “introduces new dimensions to Susan Fang’s design”, with finishing touches like beaded ‘water drops’ adding an extra edge.

Hero pieces include the Treasure Dress, inspired by the play of sunlight through leaves. It combines those laser-cut flower petals, (“creating a floating effect”) on a floral print based on flower drawings by Fang’s mother, “blending traditional artistry with contemporary fashion”.

There are 11 pieces in total including a laser-cut skirt, beaded crochet pieces, a broderie anglaise blouse and skirt, floral short-shorts, and a flower-printed shirt dress. All nine ready-to-wear garments are made from organic cotton or recycled materials. Additionally, the collection features silver diamanté sandals made from chrome-free leather and a version of Susan Fang’s 3D-printed flower necklace.

Fang said: “The primary inspiration for this co-lab was nature and the idea of creating dreamy statement pieces that also could be worn in your daily wardrobe. It’s a collection that ties nature, dreams and surrealism together through fashion. We added floral elements in all the pieces. And we combined floral prints with transparent fabric so they appear to be floating, giving the wearer a feeling of freedom.”

The collection lunches online and in-store on 18 April.
