Child abuse squad detectives are investigating whether two incidents earlier this month are linked which saw an unknown man approach and inappropriately interact with children.
Detectives have released CCTV relating to both incidents in the hope that people who may be able to assist with the investigation come forward.
The first incident happened on the evening of April 14, between 5pm and 6.30pm, when a man riding a bicycle approached an 11-year-old boy on Waterperry Drive in Canning Vale.
Police say he had an “inappropriate conversation of a sexual nature” with the child, before the boy went home and told his family about the incident.
The man is described as being fair-skinned, between 16 and 20-years-old, with what appeared to be tattoos on his neck and one of his wrists.
It is believed he was wearing a black Calvin Klein hoodie and black fingerless gloves.
The second incident happened last Saturday on Lakeside Drive in Thornlie, between 5.30pm and 6pm.
Police say a man riding a bicycle approached an 11-year-old girl, exposed himself to her and had an “inappropriate conversation of a sexual nature” with her.
The girl reported the incident to her family.
The man involved is described as being fair skinned between 17 and 18-years-old.
“Given the close proximity of the incidents, the similar circumstances and similar description of the male person involved, it is being investigated whether the two incidents are linked,” police said in a statement.
