Queensland government offering rebates on new four-star, energy-efficient home appliances

Queensland residents are being offered financial incentives to buy energy-efficient home appliances, including up to $1000 off a new solar hot water system.

Washing machines, dishwashers, dryers, fridges and air conditioners are the other appliances for which buyers could be eligible for a rebate of up to $650.

Residents who make less than $66,667 are eligible for larger rebates than people on higher incomes.

The state government hopes encouraging people to buy appliances with four-star energy ratings will help cut emissions, while saving people on their power bills.

“This rebate program not only helps Queenslanders purchase new household appliances, but it means they save money and help lower emissions for years to come,” Energy Minister Mick de Brenni said.

The rebates will be available until the $22 million allocated for the program is exhausted.
