Myles Turner said he was looking forward to the NBA’s Last Two Minute report after Game 1, but the Pacers’ big man isn’t going to be happy with the league’s findings.
The Last Two Minute report confirmed that the offensive foul charged to Turner on a screen of Donte DiVincenzo with 12.7 seconds remaining was the proper call — and that he should have been whistled for another illegal screen barely two seconds later in the Knicks’ series-opening victory.
“Replay review of the foul called on Turner (IND) pursuant to a coach’s challenge was deemed unsuccessful. Turner turns into DiVincenzo’s (NYK) path and does not give him time and distance to change direction prior to the illegal contact,” the report stated, before saying of the latter non-call, “Turner extends into DiVincenzo’s path and delivers contact with his side during the screen.”
Additionally, the report determined that Turner should have been called for a defensive three-second violation with 1:19 to go and that DiVincenzo should have been whistled for an offensive foul against Aaron Nesmith with 53.6 left.
DiVincenzo buried a go-ahead 3-pointer about 13 seconds later for the Knicks.
The Last Two Minute report also confirmed that Nesmith should not have been called for a kicked ball with 52.0 seconds remaining, which the officials acknowledged to a pool reporter following the game.
