Remarkable Survival: Woman Thrives for 80 Years with Needle in Her Brain

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6:  During a CT scan, medical professionals discovered a three-centimeter-long needle inside the brain of an elderly woman in the Russian Far East, which had been there for eighty years.

It is believed by doctors that the woman might have been the target of a failed murder attempt carried out by her parents during her childhood. Despite the finding, the medical team has decided against attempting to remove the needle due to concerns about potentially worsening her condition.

The local health department in the remote Russian region of Sakhalin mentioned that such cases were widespread during the famine years. The doctors speculated that the woman’s parents likely attempted to eliminate her during World War II, and she had been living with the three-centimeter needle since birth. This method was often used to conceal evidence of the crime.

AFP reported that food shortages were widespread across the Soviet Union during the war, with a significant portion of the population experiencing extreme poverty.

The local health department further clarified that the needle had penetrated the left parietal lobe but did not achieve its intended effect, allowing the girl to survive. Remarkably, the patient had never complained of headaches due to the injury and was not currently facing any imminent danger. Her condition is being carefully monitored by the treating physician.
