Perth locals are urged to keep an eye out for Moon the dolphin as an environmental conservation group raises grave concerns for her health.
River Guardians shared the worrying news on their Facebook on Friday saying Moon has a “large, noticeable lump just behind her head”.
The group is troubled by the lump’s “significant” increase in size and is encouraging Swan and Canning river goers to look out for Moon.
“From recent sightings over the last week, this lump has significantly increased in size, and we are concerned about her health. We are trying hard to monitor her, but she is quite elusive at times,” River Guardians wrote.
“If you see her, please take a video if you can, so we can see her behaviour and movements and note the time and location.”
The community organisation advised those in water vessels (including kayaks) to steer clear of the lovable dolphin to avoid causing additional stress.
River Guardians encourages those who see Moon to send photos and videos to [email protected] or to message the group on Facebook Messenger.
Many in the comments confirmed they had sighted the dolphin, however, an update on Moon’s condition has not been shared.
