Rockies launch new online site to stream baseball games

The Rockies’ long-anticipated plan for live-streaming the club’s games was unveiled Wednesday morning.

After months of speculation, the club launched Rockies.tv, an online streaming service that will show all of the Rockies’ games this season. Major League Baseball will produce and distribute the games.

MLB will also remove blackouts for fans, meaning that for the first time, fans in the Rockies’ traditional TV territory will be able to livestream all of the club’s games.

As for the ability to watch games on TV, via a traditional cable channel, a Rockies spokesperson said that details regarding that plan will be announced in the future.

Prices for Rockies.tv are as follows:

• To stream Rockies games only, the price will be $19.99 per month or $99.99 for the season.

• The package of Rockies.tv, plus MLB.tv — which would include Rockies games and all MLB games — is $39.99 per month or $199.99 for the season.

It is expected that most of the Rockies’ announcing team will return, except for Jenny Cavnar, a longtime contributor who is leaving to become the play-by-play announcer for the Oakland Athletics.
