In particular, Sam believes truffle and macadamia farmers, and those who run vineyards, would make wonderful applicants.

Traditionally, the show has attracted a large number of sheep and cattle farmers.

Some of those farmers were Brenton, Brad, Matt and Andrew from the 2023 season, and Farmer Will from 2022.

“They’re casting now and we start shooting later in the year,” she tells 7Life of the 2024 season, adding that she would love to see a truffle farmer or someone who works in a vineyard.

“I thought David was really successful and really interesting … with his apple orchard in Queensland, because it was just a little bit out of the norm,” she says of the 2023 farmer.

David found love on the show with Emily.

The host adds that it would be “fascinating”, for example, to learn more about “macadamia farmers around northern New South Wales”.

And it would be interesting to see “what farmers are doing in unusual ways (and) products we don’t see all the time”, she says.

“But that’s not to take away from our sheep and cattle farmers, who I love,” Sam says.

“There are so many different landscapes in Australia … and I (would) love to show that to Australians.

“So some of these other places that are not the norm would be really fascinating to look at and, I’m sure, incredibly beautiful.”

Sam, who comes from a farming background and went on to marry a farmer, calls herself a “huge advocate for our agricultural industry”.

“I‘m such a believer in our farmers in Australia. I’m so proud of them,” she says.

Along with watching farmers fall in love, Farmer Wants a Wife is a great vehicle to help promote the work of Aussie farmers and some of the country’s agricultural practices, Sam believes.

“It’s wonderful to show Australians how dynamic our farmers can be, where they come from, what they’re producing”, she says.

“You know, if you’ve got a bowl of almonds on your table, do you know where they came from?”
