Scary moment South Perth construction worker lifted metres into air by crane angers construction union

It’s no flying pig, though onlookers were forced to look twice on Wednesday when a construction worker in South Perth was raised metres off the ground by a crane.

The shocking footage shared to TikTok depicted a tradie dangling by a rope as a crane lifted both himself and a large tree sky-high.

“You’re kidding me. You are actually f****** kidding me,” one onlooker exclaimed in the bizarre clip.

Taking place before noon, the central suburb resembled a Hollywood movie set until the worker was lowered to safety.

The daring stunt was condemned by union bosses, 7NEWS reported.

“We have seen four fatalities in as many weeks in the construction industry in Western Australia and today could well have made it five with this near miss,” CFMEU State Secretary Mick Buchan said.

“Our organisers are out there every day making sure sites are safe and that everyone gets to go home at the end of the day and to see these cowboys fragrantly abusing basic safety protocols is disappointing, to say the least.”

Expressing his concern, Mr Buchan suggested the incident would be further investigated.

“We have been in touch with the project manager and will be following up with a full investigation,” he said.
