Scotland Euro wildcard option, 27, dropped for Championship season finale over ‘disciplinary matter’

SCOTLAND wildcard option Kevin Nisbet missed Millwall’s final game of the Championship season over a ‘disciplinary matter’.

The striker has been missing from Steve Clarke’s squads through injury since last September and his last international appearance came in June 2023.

But now, back fit, he is considered among the outside chances of a seat on the plane to Germany next month

But his faint hopes suffered again this weekend as his season finished abruptly.

Nisbet, 27, found himself DROPPED from Neil Harris’ final squad of the season for Millwall’s match against Swansea over an internal club matter – a week after finally overcoming a serious hamstring injury.

His 22 minutes against Plymouth last weekend was his first competitive action since January but Nisbet was banished back to the sidelines by his boss – who stressed standards must be met at The New Den.

Harris was however keen to stress the £2m signing from Hibs DID have a big future at the club – but action had to be taken.

Irish international Michael Obafemi was also axed and Harris hinted at the reason for his omission as he explained Nisbet’s absence too.

Quizzed on the duo Harris said: “All I’m going to say is I’m building a culture and an environment at the football club.

“The standards are set by Neil Harris and Millwall Football Club. These are standards that I expect players to adhere to.

“Players will only be involved at my football club, when I’m in charge, if they hit those standards. It’s all about culture and environment.

“Michael has done brilliantly for us on loan and we’re really thankful for his efforts. He didn’t feature for us off the bench the other day he wasn’t going to feature today.

“I’d rather play our own players who have trained impeccably.

“And secondly, with Kevin, it’s a disciplinary matter about culture and standards.

“There’s no bigger problem moving forward. Kevin is a huge part of our football club moving forward.

“But it wasn’t right to involve him today so I went with the group that I did.”

Nisbet played 28 times before injury struck – completing 90 minutes just five times.

The 27-year-old overcame a ruptured ACL last season to sign for the south London side in the summer and has hit five goals since his big money switch from Easter Road.
