Mamelodi Sundowns have said Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena is not for sale as they attempt to tie him to a new contract. They’re also ready to hijack a Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates target.
Overseas club make a poor offer for Sundowns star Mokoena
According to Phakaaathi, an overseas club made an offer for the 26-year-old but the newly-crowned South African champions didn’t even look at it.
“It was not a great offer, but Sundowns would not even consider it. At least (you should) look at it,” a source told the Mgosi Squad.
Mokoena’s current deal with Downs expires in June 2025. According to The Citizen, negotiations have hit an impasse and a new deal isn’t imminent yet.

As reported by Phakaaathi last week, Sundowns sporting director Flemming Berg’s mandate is to ensure the club doesn’t lose their key players. Mokoena falls into that category.
“Negotiations were at a very delicate stage currently and I would not want to prejudice such discussions at this moment,” Mokoena’s agent Glyn Binkin told the SABC last week.

According to SoccerLaduma, Sundowns are preparing a blockbuster move for long-term Chiefs and Pirates target Eilas Mokwana. The Sekhukhune winger has been a revelation for Babina Noko this season, earning a full Bafana Bafana call-up. Downs are now at the head of the queue for a man valued at R35 Million by Lehlohonolo Seema’s team. According to The Citizen, Mokwana has always admired Chiefs but has admitted to having a soft spot for Sowetor rivals Pirates. Will that be a problem for Sundowns? Speaking of Bafana stars, the Brazilians could swoop for Orlando Pirates’ red-hot star Tshegofatso Mabasa, who has 15 goals in 24 league matches this term. It would be foolish to rule out a move for Tshegofatso Mabasa, Patrick Maswanganyi or others in the foreseeable future. Mabasa’s proposed move to Europe is reportedly off, and Sundowns are circling.
