Teenage speedway racer Tyler Scott determined in pursuit of State title honours

At just 16 years old, speedway ace Tyler Scott is continuing to set the bar high after grabbing a podium finish in the junior sedans at last month’s NT titles.

Scott emerged from the championships at Arunga Park in Alice Springs behind the winner, NT driver Jackson Gordon, and WA teammate Mitch Binning.

It was a close call but Scott — who already has five years driving experience under his belt — said he would not be giving up on a relentless pursuit of a State title and ultimately a national title.

“It was definitely good competition (in Alice Springs), including two drivers from NSW and some really talented others,” he said.

“I definitely seem to go better at the smaller tracks, but two weeks before the NT titles I rolled the car for the first time (in Newman for the WA title).

“It was my first flip which was a shock and a little bit dangerous, but I got out of it (uninjured) and raced the next night.

“It (the crash) wasn’t too big of a deal, but it can be fairly expensive (because) in the last four or five weeks I’ve gone through two motors after flipping it.

“At last weekend’s Late Models (at Kalgoorlie International Speedway), I blew up the motor we’d just put in, so it’s been an expensive few weeks.”

Scott’s wait for a new engine forced him to abandon plans to race this weekend at Perth Motorplex.

Upcoming events include the 2025 Australian championships in Queensland in January.
