The Beatles’s Last Music Video Is Coming Later This Week

It’s been decades since The Beatles released a new single, but in just a few days, the most successful band of all time will reunite and drop more music. Now, details surrounding the tune’s accompanying music video have been shared as well, and the man directing the clip is one of the most celebrated in the entertainment industry.

An official music video for The Beatles’s last song, titled “Now and Then,” is set to arrive on Friday, November 3. Fans can catch the clip when it premieres at 10 AM EST on the band’s official YouTube channel.

The visual is directed by Peter Jackson, who has never before helmed a music video…but he certainly isn’t new to the directing game. Jackson is perhaps best known as the screenwriter and director behind the massively successful Lord of the Rings franchise. He also worked with the two remaining Beatles, as well as the estates of the two no longer with us, for the docuseries The Beatles: Get Back.

The song itself, “Now and Then,” is set to be released globally exactly one day before the music video—to the hour.

In a letter posted on The Beatles’s website, Jackson offered some insights into the forthcoming music video. He revealed that the video was made using a mix of footage from various sources. The blend includes never-before-seen footage from the band’s earliest days, as well as fresh video content filmed by McCartney and Starr, the two surviving members of the legendary group.

The single is a remarkable blend of musical history, built around a demo recorded by John Lennon in the 1970s. It features all four members of The Beatles, and until recently, it was assumed that the original recording was unusable. Earlier this year, McCartney caused a frenzy when he shared that he was utilizing artificial intelligence to separate Lennon’s vocals from the background noise, which has previously been impossible.
