The Best Gardens in Vogue: A Flower-Filled Look Into Our Archive

Before it’s in fashion, it’s in Vogue—this we know. But lesser celebrated is the fact that while it’s in bloom, it’s in Vogue, too. Throughout our 130-plus years, we’ve traversed the prettiest corners of the earth and photographed spectacular gardens for our readers, from the formal boxwood hedge bordered by towering palms in the Punta Cana, Dominican Republic garden of the late Oscar de la Renta to the much-celebrated country home of Dries Van Noten in Belgium—which, since being photographed for Vogue’s 2014 issue by François Halard, has launched a thousand pins onto mood boards.

With Miranda Brooks, renowned landscape architect, serving as contributing editor for decades now, it’s no wonder we’ve been invited into some of the most esteemed gardens. Several of her works (including her own property in the Cotswolds) have graced our pages.

Gardens are at the forefront of our minds ahead of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s forthcoming exhibition: “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Guests attending the opening night gala are being asked to follow a dress code of “The Garden of Time.”

There are few things our editors love more than a good garden—see the very best, below.
