There are 9 products still making your life harder

With Apple’s Let Loose event now over, Cupertino has removed the last iPad with a Lightning port. Now, every iPad the company sells relies on USB-C. The same is worth it for every Mac and most Apple products. Still, a reasonable number of devices still need a Lightning port, which might be making your life harder, as you can have a single cable for everything. Here they are:

iPhone 14: Released in late 2022, Apple’s iPhone 14 was the last smartphone from the company with Lightning support. It looks very similar to the iPhone 13, as they share the same processor. Still, it’s expected to be in Apple’s lineup until at least 2025.

iPhone SE 3: Released in early 2022, the entry-model iPhone offered the classic iPhone 8 design with a more powerful chip. Rumors say Apple is expected to update this device with an iPhone 14-like design next year, but it’s unclear if it’s going to offer a USB-C port. We hope so.

iPhone 13: Released in 2021, Apple was still in the early days of offering more products with a USB-C port. This device will likely be discontinued at the end of the year, which means the company will grow its USB-C iPhone offering soon.

AirPods 3rd generation: Also released in 2021, a new generation is expected to come later this year. According to the latest rumors, Apple is readying two versions of AirPods 4 so it can ditch both AirPods 3 and AirPods 2 with Lightning port.

AirPods Max: This is the Apple product most people are still waiting for a new generation. Released at the end of 2020, it seems these headphones will get (at least) a USB-C port by the end of this year.

AirPods 2nd generation: It’s impressive that Apple is selling this 2019 product, but this classic design and Lightning port are expected to say goodbye later this year.

Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad for Mac: While we all expected Apple to ditch the Lightning port from these accessories during the company’s Scary Fast event in October 2023, Apple decided still to sell the M3 iMac with the same options available. An update with USB-C port is long overdue, but it’s unclear if it’s coming this year.

Wrap up

Apple still has a surprisingly big offering of Lightning products so far. However, this might change by the end of next year. BGR will keep updating this article as Cupertino ditches this connector for USB-C.
