TTD to ink pact with national Sanskrit university to digitize palm leaf texts

Tirupati, July 20: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will formally ink pacts with Sri Venkateswara vedic university and the National Sanskrit university in Tirupati to take up digitization of ancient scripts in palm leaf texts.
TTD EO AV Dharma Reddy directed officials of SV manuscript project to sign MoUs with Sri Venkateswara vedic university and the National Sanskrit university for digitisation of all the available ancient scripts in palm leaf format.
Addressing a review meeting at SV Vedic university premises in Tirupati on Thursday, the EO said those ancient scripts which were already digitised should be published for the benefit of the society by hiring required number of scholars for the task.
He asked officials to speed up procurement of manuscripts scanners and prepare a six months action plan for acquiring the manuscripts.
He also instructed officials to prepare a software to decipher the missing words and sentences in the manuscripts and also complete scanning of 1000 bundles of manuscripts among the pending lot in next six months.
JEO (H&E) Sada Bhargavi, VC of SV vedic university Acharya Rani Sadashiv Murty, manuscript project special officer Vijay Lakshmi, university registrar Acharya Radhe Shyam were also present.
