UP Board 10th, 12th Exam 2024: UPMSP to Introduce QR-Coded Identity Cards for Invigilators

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) is scheduled to conduct the UPMSP 10th board examination between February 22 and March 9, 2024. Concurrently, the Class 12 UP board exams are set to take place during the same period. In an effort to ensure the fairness of the examination process, the board has decided to introduce computerized identity cards for invigilators. These cards will feature unique QR codes and serial numbers.
“The QR code and the serial number on the identity card would ensure their uniqueness and prevent any replication as well as thwart any effort of impersonation by anyone trying to undermine the exams,” told Divyakant Shukla, secretary of the UP Board to IANS.
Following the rules, the district school inspectors (DIOSs) in each district will get these identity cards from the official board website a week before the exams begin. Afterward, they will give the cards to the invigilators.
The ID cards will show the subject that the invigilator is qualified to teach. This allows other qualified teachers to step in if needed, especially if they know a different subject from the one being tested that day. This practice would prevent any chance of an invigilator trying to aid an examinee to cheat, officials said.
On December 7, 2023, the UP Board released the exam schedule for Class 10 and 12. As per the schedule, the board exams will last for 17 days (12 working days) and will be held at 8,264 centers spread across all 75 districts of the state. These exams will take place from February 22 to March 9, giving students plenty of time and easy access to their important tests.
This year, around 55,08,206 students have enrolled for the UP Board Exams 2024 for high school and intermediate levels. This includes 29,47,324 high school students, with 15,71,686 boys and 13,75,638 girls, and an additional 25,60,882 intermediate students, consisting of 14.12 lakh boys and 11.48 lakh girls.
In the previous year, the Uttar Pradesh government had roped in the Special Task Force (STF) to ensure the fair and uninterrupted conduct of board examinations across the state. According to the regulations, any attempt by a cheating mafia to disrupt the examination process or manipulate the system in any district would have resulted in legal prosecution under the Gangster Act.
