WA weather: Perth set for sunshine after thunderstorm lashed northern suburbs

Perth is set for a glorious week of sunshine after Friday’s thunderstorm lashed the northern suburbs.

Tuesday will kick start the warmer weather with a top of 31C and temperatures will continue to heat up as the week goes on.

Residents can expect temperatures to reach 33C on Wednesday, with the weather forecast to hit a high on Thursday at 34C.

Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Grace Abbott said there was no sign of more wet and wild weather.

“The week ahead is looking very stable. It’s warming up and drying up along the West coast,” Ms Abbott said.

The forecast is a welcome change after Friday’s unexpected bout of torrential rain caused flash flooding in Clarkson, Butler, Ridgewood and Nowergup.

Hundreds of residents were left with damaged homes and no power. Crews were called to Winton Road, Connolly Drive, and Hester Avenue in Joondalup to help people who were trapped in their cars.
