This includes legal measures such as seeking a hearing at the Delhi High Court(HC), where their concerns about the exam schedule and its implications will be heard on Monday, April 8, 2024. Additionally, students have penned an open letter addressed to Prime Minister Modi, appealing for his intervention in delaying the exams. Furthermore, concerns have been raised to the Election Commission of India and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India(ICAI), highlighting the potential challenges and conflicts posed by holding exams during sensitive electoral period. Despite thousands of tweets, reshares, and countless requests, ICAI shows no inclination to defer the ICAI CA examination. Postpone ICAI CA Exams 2024: 3 Probable Reasons Why ICAI Might Not Revise ICAI May Intermediate and Final Exams Schedule 2024

  • To Avoid Clash with Several Competitive Exams: NTA has already released the exam calendar for 2024. According to the academic calendar, NTA will hold the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test(NEET-UG) on May 5; and the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate(CUET-UG) from May 15 to May 31. These dates coincide with the 18th Lok Sabha election period where major competitive examinations will also conducted. To avoid further last-minute clashes with these major competitive examinations, ICAI may aim to prevent last-minute clashes that could exacerbate students’ concerns further.
  • ICAI CA Correction Window: To facilitate the examinees, who have already applied for May 2024 CA Examinations, ICAI decided to re-open the online request for change in examination city, group, and medium. Candidates of Chartered Accountants Intermediate and Final Examinations seeking change of examination city, group, and medium were allowed to avail this online facility available at https://eservices.icai.org (Self Service Portal – SSP) with effect from March 27 (10:00 AM) to March 29, 2024 (11:59 PM). Later, the notice clarified that other particulars/details as announced vide Important Announcement dated 25th January 2024 read with Important Announcement dated 19th March 2024 hosted on www.icai.org will remain unchanged. According to the notice dated 19th March 2024, ICAI will hold the CA Intermediate Group I Intermediate Course examination on May 3, 5, and May 9, 2024. Meanwhile, the ICAI CA Intermediate Group -II examinations will be held on May 11, 15, and May 17, 2024.
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is likely to conduct the Chartered Accountants (CA) Foundation and Inter exams thrice a year. Therefore, it is important to have a minimum gap of four months between the examinations. Therefore, to guarantee the smooth conduct of the three cycles without any complications or overlaps, ICAI is unlikely to reschedule ICAI CA May exam dates.

Sharing a post on X, Advocate Anubha Srivastava Sahai wrote, “Many Institutes are now rescheduling exams and holding it after elections #ICAI should also proactively work to find centres like other institutes are doing I could not understand how come in 3 days they found centres for more 4 lakh #castudents.”
