Wood You Believe It? This 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Has Less Than 28,000 Miles

  • This 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has only 27,417 miles on the odometer and is in excellent condition overall.
  • Found beneath the skin is a massive 5.9-liter naturally-aspirated V8 with a ot-so-massive140 hp.
  • The interior shows minimal wear and the paint and trim appear original, though an accident has been reported.

The original Jeep Grand Wagoneer is one of America’s most iconic and beloved SUVs, and finding a low-mileage, well-maintained one is like discovering a needle in a haystack. We’ve just found that needle.

This 1988 Grand Wagoneer is up for auction at Hemmings. While the reserve price is undisclosed, anyone desperate enough to buy it will likely be willing to pay a hefty sum. So, what makes this Grand Wagoneer more desirable than most?

Review: The New Jeep Grand Wagoneer Is A Private Jet For The Road

For starters, the SUV has only been driven 27,417 miles (44,123 km) since it rolled off the production line, a remarkably low figure for a 36-year-old Jeep. Additionally, the Grand Wagoneer remained with its original owner until 2022. A Carfax report reveals the front right was damaged but has since been repaired.

The listing notes that the paint and faux wood trim is original and that the glass and seals are in “very good condition.” The lights also all work, and the interior is in excellent condition, even though it feels quite dated. Key features inside include the original cassette radio that still functions, air conditioning, power windows, a heater, and power locks.

What’s most remarkable about the interior is that the tan leather adorning the seats, door panels, and dashboard looks pristine and is free of rips.

Powering the Jeep is the original 5.9-liter naturally-aspirated V8 with 140 hp and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque. This engine is mated to a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission linked to a transfer case routing power through Dana 44 front and rear axles.

It was also recently installed with Hankook tires that have been used for less than 200 miles (~320 km). It could be the perfect option for someone who wants a classic SUV without worrying about a vehicle with high mileage or one that’s been mistreated.

It’s now offered for sale through Hemmings. For more details or to register to bid, you can visit the listing here.
