The McLaren 720S wasn’t just a hugely important car for the British manufacturer but it was also pivotal for the supercar industry as a whole, achieving levels of performance previously unheard of for a vehicle in its segment. It’s hardly a surprise why it has proven to be so popular.
Underpinning the 720S is a modified version of McLaren’s carbon fiber monocoque and it is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 delivering a claimed 710 hp and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. However, McLaren probably understated the car’s power figures as dyno tests show the engine produces closer to 800 hp. The 720S is also quite the looker and this blacked-out example is particularly eye-catching.

This 720S is a 2021 model that has recently passed through the hands of Strasse Wheels, who have bolted on a set of their 20-inch front and 21-inch rear SV10M Deep Concave FS wheels. These rims have an intricate spoke design and rock gloss carbon fiber lips and centers. They have been wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and have 2-piece center caps finished in Gloss Royal Blue with carbon fiber inserts.
Despite appearances, these wheels aren’t constructed from carbon fiber; instead, the visible carbon is just a skin applied to the exterior. Some would argue this is the best of both worlds as you get the strength and repairability of a traditional forged wheel with the look of carbon fiber, as opposed to all-carbon fiber wheels that are exorbitantly expensive and more difficult to repair.
No other changes appear to have been made to this 720S, but this isn’t a vehicle that’s crying out for any additional grunt anyway. It’s perfect just the way it is.
