CSU’s Mya Lesnar named Mountain West Women’s Female Athlete of the Year

Colorado State’s Mya Lesnar on Wednesday was named the Mountain West Women’s Indoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year.

She is the second CSU athlete to win the award, joining Lexie Keller, who was honored in 2022. New Mexico freshman Habtom Samuel received the men’s honor.

The Rams junior capped off her 2024 season by winning the national championship in shot put with a throw of 18.53 meters on March 9, setting the facilities mark at The Track at New Balance in Boston. She became the school’s first women’s indoor national champion with the effort.

Lesnar, daughter of former UFC and WWE champion Brock Lesnar, broke the school and Mountain West records with a personal-best throw of 19.10 meters to win the conference championship. She also won the weight throw with a distance of 22.06 meters and helped CSU to the 2024 Mountain West title.
