- Ford customers are embracing electrification as the company set a new monthly record for hybrid sales.
- EV sales skyrocketed 129% thanks to strong demand for the Mustang Mach-E.
- ICE-powered crossovers were the big losers as the Bronco Sport, Escape, and Edge all saw big declines.
Ford sales slid 2.4% last month to 179,588 units, but the automaker is looking at the silver lining as they sold 17,997 hybrids in April. That’s up 59.5% from a year ago and is a new monthly record.

Helping them to achieve that was the F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid, which set a new monthly record in April. Sales were up 93.6% and this helped to make it “America’s top-selling full-size hybrid pickup.”

Ford also noted the Maverick is the best-selling hybrid pickup in America. Through the first four months of the year, the company has sold 26,061 Maverick Hybrids and it’s still a conquest king as “most of those customers – 59% – are coming from other brands and segments.”

Delving deeper into the numbers, Ford’s ICE-powered lineup got a chilly reception as Bronco Sport sales plummeted 33.4% and the Edge was down by 28.8%. Escape sales were also off by 28%, while Mustang sales fell 9.4%.
On the flip side, EV sales skyrocketed 129.2% from a year ago. They were aided by a 204.7% increase in Mustang Mach-E sales as the company sold 4,893 electric crossovers in April. The F-150 Lightning climbed 56.6% to 2,090 units, while the E-Transit charged ahead with an 85.7% increase in sales.
Over at Lincoln, sales were up 24.2% to 8,297 units. Consumers seem to be embracing the new Nautilus as sales were up 15.8% from a year ago. The Corsair was up 162.6%, while the Navigator was off by a little over 20%. However, help is on the way as the company is working on a hybrid Navigator as well as a similar Ford Expedition.
