Bhopal: BJP MP Krishnapal Singh Yadav, who represents Madhya Pradesh’s Guna, has written to state Home Minister Narottam Mishra alleging that his vehicle was followed and intercepted by bikers on 2 October.
In a letter dated 3 October, Yadav has sought an investigation into the “suspicious incident”, adding that it occurred while he was returning to Ashoknagar district after attending an event presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2 October in Gwalior, over 200 km away.
“As we were nearing Isagarh (in Ashoknagar), one of the bikers continued to follow us and suddenly brought the bike in front of the vehicle, prompting us to stop the car to avoid an accident,” he wrote in the letter, a copy of which has been accessed by ThePrint.
“The man was also carrying a bag which might have weapons. My private security personnel caught him and handed him over to Isagarh police.”
Police in Isagarh said they had identified the man in question as Pawan Yadav (28) of nearby Taraoli village.
“The accused identified as Pawan Yadav was drunk,” the inspector in-charge of Isagarh police station, Gajendra Singh, told ThePrint.
“When he spotted the convoy going, he recognised it was the honorable MP and wanted to stop and meet him. The bag he was carrying was found to have a lunch box.”
Singh said Yadav has been booked under sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, including those for dangerous and drunk driving.
“After the letter of the honorable MP, we are further investigating the matter and statements of the drivers and others involved are being recorded for further investigation,” Singh added.
In his letter, Yadav said “such incidents have happened with me in the past as well”.
“As [MP assembly] election time is near, such incidents happening with me raise suspicion. Strict action should be taken against the concerned person, and conducting a proper investigation is essential to uncover who all are involved in such incidents so that necessary action can be taken against them as well,” he added.
MP is due to hold its assembly elections later this year.

‘Demeaned by Scindia supporters’
Yadav, once a close aide of Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, fell out with him and quit the Congress after the 2018 assembly election.
He joined the BJP and was fielded as the Lok Sabha candidate from Scindia’s home turf Guna in 2019, where he ended up defeating the erstwhile royal by 1.25 lakh votes.
Scindia also switched over to the BJP in 2020 with loyalist-MLAs, and brought down the Congress government led by Kamal Nath.
In January 2022, Yadav wrote a letter to BJP president J.P. Nadda, alleging that Scindia supporters were “demeaning” him in Guna.
He also said “pro-Scindia ministers and workers were creating confusion among workers and sending the wrong message to the public”.
In May, Yadav was called by MP BJP leaders for a meeting where he was advised not to talk in public or to the media against Scindia.
